OUR HISTORY

The Vizianagaram Church of Christ is an non-denominational body of Christians who seek to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In saying we are 'non-denominational' we are simply saying that we wish to be identified only with the Church Jesus built (Matthew 16:18), for which He shed His blood on the cross (Acts 20:28), and therefore do not conceived of ourselves as a denomination. The Church belongs to, and is identified with, Christ alone (Ephesians 1:22,23 and Colossians 1:18).

The congregation in vizianagaram was started in 1987 when the preacher moved from a place called Garividi, where he worked as preacher and handed to look over the there congregation to a young man and evangelist in the congregation named Mr. Uday Kumar. After preacher shifted to vizianagaram, initially evangelized the few families of relatives, the congregation was started with them together worshipping in a thatched house. So the congregation was started initially with 4 members. Eventually the congregation used to move to worship in rented houses where the preacher lived. Even the preacher is partially handicapped; he enthusiastically evangelized people and preached Christ persistently. By which, among the people of pagans and strong traditions and rituals, the congregation has grown gradually. The people came to the knowledge of truth by hearing and knowing through saints lives and through constant preaching of truth by the preacher and by the united effort of the believersThe young people inspired by the preacher and by their family, dedicated their lives and came forward courageously to serve the Lord. Inspite of constant threats and provoking by the pagan and barbaric people, with zealous efforts of the Preacher supported by the young believers the congregation was able to stand on the grounds of truth strongly and able to influence the people with the words of Jesus and with their lives of faith.

You will find simplicity to our worship. We celebrate the Lord's Supper (communion) every Sunday, seeing this memorial as an integral part of the early Christian's gatherings, as Jesus instructed (Luke 22:19-23; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28). We sing praise and songs acappella - that is without the accompaniment of musical instruments (Colossians 3:16,17; Ephesians 5:19). Scripture is read and preached (1 Timothy 4:13; 2 Timothy 4:2). Heartfelt prayers are offered by the men of the church (1 Timothy 1:1-3, 8).
